Korean War Veterans Memorial
Washington, DC

Congress authorized a Wall of Remembrance to be added to the Korean War Veterans Memorial on the National Mall, which features the names of 36,000 American service members and 7,100 Koreans who died while augmenting the army during the War. The project was constructed concurrently with additional efforts to rehabilitate the memorial, a process that saw the refinishing of the stainless steel statues, renewed lettering, and updates to lighting and electrical infrastructure.

An updated planting palette for the memorial includes replacements for the hallmark linden trees that encircle the Pool of Remembrance and updates to the juniper trees in the Field of Service. Working collaboratively with the design team, OvS sought and received approval for design modifications from agencies such as the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts and National Park Service.

The memorial was re-dedicated in July 2022.
