Americana at Manhasset has been Long Island's premiere shopping destination for more than forty years. Its boutiques include Giorgio Armani, Hermes, Tiffany & Company, Louis Vuitton, MaxMara, and Barneys New York. Oehme, van Sweden & Associates has created beautiful gardens for Americana since 1986. In 1992 the American Association of Nurserymen honored the gardens for Achievement in Landscaping and Beautification. First Lady Barbara Bush, Honorary Chairperson, presented the national award. Local media recognition includes the following quotation: "Many times, as the seasons change, I have written abut the beautiful landscaping at the Americana, thanking Mr. Frank Castagna for giving Manhasset one of the most attractive entrances or exits a town could possibly wish for. I have always admired the variety, the composition, the free spirit, the movement each flower bed represented, but never thought of finding out how, what, where, when and who produces all this magic." Barbara Juliane Cordovi, Manhasset Press, Oct. 10, 1996.
