Junto Farm

Perched on a green plateau, the glass house and surrounding lawn are framed by ornamental plantings. Stone walkways traverse hillside gardens, leading to bosques of nut trees including hazelnut, pecan, and pine.  The plantings celebrate each season’s beauty.  To the west the land slopes sharply downhill, to grassy meadows and groves of trees: to the south the land slopes more gently, beyond a broad meadow that winds down beyond the tennis court, into the forest below; to the east, the topography of Duchess County’s characteristic ridge and valley topography come closest to the house – meadows and forests are reflected in ponds placed in natural hollows. In the background, a backdrop of Duchess County’s long mountain ridges surrounds the house on all sides.

This project is a collaborative effort with Eric D. Groft, Landscape Architecture, D.P.C.
