Michael Espenan (LEFT), a LEED® accredited landscape architect at Oehme, van Sweden, was awarded a Renewable Energy Grant by the Washington, DC, Department of Environment Renewable Energy Development Program. The grant will subsidize the costs of a five kilowatt photovoltaic energy system to be installed on the firm's Capitol Hill office building in 2008. A real-time display unit will track the building's energy usage, and the information collected will demonstrate to the firm's neighbors how energy is used and renewed at the local level. |
