New American Garden Exhibition Travels to LSU

The New American Garden: The Landscape Architecture of Oehme, van Sweden is on display through December 9 at the Student Union Art Gallery at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

The exhibition, a collaboration between the National Building Museum and The Cultural Landscape Foundation, chronicles the work of OvS Founding Principals Wolfgang Oehme (1930-2011) and James van Sweden (1935-2013). On Saturday, November 12 OvS Principal Eric Groft will be giving the keynote address at Garden Design for Living, a symposium held in by the university’s Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture.

Featuring 52 photographs of residential, civic, and commercial projects, the exhibition is a nod to Bold Romantic Gardens: The New World Landscapes of Oehme and van Sweden, a widely influential book Oehme and van Sweden wrote that showcases 21 projects and introduced the world to their horticulturally exuberant designs. The exhibition will travel to the Vollmer Visitor and Education Center at the Cylburn Arboretum in Baltimore, Maryland in 2017.
